Tyler's Weekend @ Merwin

Tyler recently got to go and spend a night at Lake Merwin with Grandma and Grandpa Hunt.  His cousin Kami and Aunt Mel also were there.  He and Kami had a lot of fun being silly together and Tyler had a blast!

Some Summer Fun

Last summer we got a small, round plastic pool for Tyler to play in.  This year it was time for an upgrade.  We go a 10' x 6' blow up pool that Jason and I could actually float in comfortably.  It's been a lot of fun for Tyler.  We also got to go for a ride on uncle Steve's boat one evening, we taught him all about flagging and we got to drive the boat!

Grandma and the Sprinkler

When Tyler and I are playing in the pool, or outside with water in general, I usually have him take off his shirt.  He will be climbing into the pool and I will have to stop him before he gets soaked, saying, "let's just take your shirt off, then it will be okay."  A couple weeks ago, I dropped him off with my Mom for the afternoon and I told him that after his nap he could run through the sprinkler in the front yard, just like I did when I was little.  So, after his nap, my Mom set it all up for him.  After a bit, he kept asking Grandma to run through the sprinkler.  She explained that she had her clothes on so she couldn't.  He turned to her and said, "it's okay Grandma, just take your shirt off".

Obviously she kept it on - thanks Mom :)

Doug & Kelly's Visit

My brother and his family make a trip out every summer and it always goes by too fast.  We squeezed in as many activities as possible this year; zoo, golf, bbq's, "adult" dinners... and as always it was so great to see them!  Tyler had a great time playing with his Montana cousins!

Tyler has been afraid of these lion statues, but this day he got up the courage to sit on them with Will and Annemarie

Doug found his letterman jacket at my parents house and then proceeded to stroll into the living room where we all were and "show off".  Two nights later, Jason and I showed up with ours and captured these priceless photos :)

CABO

Our trip to Mexico was a total vacation in every way, no cell phones, no debit cards, no email, and basically no contact while we were away.  We stayed at an all inclusive resort in Cabo San Lucas and enjoyed great weather and met FABULOUS people.  We ended up meeting a group from Nebraska and a couple from Indiana and we spent our days at the pool enjoying their company.  We made a trip to the marina near by via water taxi (not my recommended mode of transportation to anyone!) We also took a catamaran trip which was great! We missed Tyler very much and were very glad when we made it home, we devoured a cheeseburger and fries in San Francisco while we waited for our connecting flight - we had missed our American food!
The resort had 3 infinity pools - this is one of the two smaller ones which had a swim up bar :)

This is where we spent our days, literally from 10am until anywhere between 4 and 6pm.  The beach was literally over the edge of our pool.  We could watch all the vendors from the safety of our pool :)

This is Faby and Fernando.  Fernando served us every day we were there and he treated our group very well :)

A few drinks in we all posed for this, Sable one of the girls from Nebraska pointed out that this was not Fernando's first rodeo :)  I can only imagine how many people have this picture :)
Jason, Sable, Jenna, Nick, Sara, Lauren, Andrew and John.  This was the Nebraska group.

On our first day we watched a couple wade into the pool and then proceed to "bob" in it literally the entire time they were there.  We wondered what that was all about.  They didn't swim, didn't really even move, they didn't even drink (we offered one to them) they just bobbed with their heads above water.  They did it the next day too and by then John and Amber from Indiana had joined us and were also wondering what the bobbing was all about.  Well we found out.  Its warm under the water.  Once you get out it is a bit windy and you get cold for a bit before the sun warms you back up.  The group became expert bobbers.

John and Amber, Indiana, had just been married and were on their honeymoon.  John is a police officer so we had a bunch of fun listening to his stories and doing "worry-free" sobriety tests :)

The first day we went to the marina we did not bring our camera.  Thank goodness because our water taxi all but threw us in the ocean on our return trip!  Anyway, while we were there we saw a yacht from Portland, Or... named MICK.  (for those who do not know, my Dad's name is Mick)  When we returned the back door was open so you couldn't see the "I" but you get the picture.

This photo is taken in front of the arch at Lands End, the most southern point of the
Baja Peninsula. Our catamaran trip was great, we motored up the coast line, stopped for a BBQ lunch and did some kayaking before returning back to the marina.

Dozer Day

Last weekend we attended Dozer Day.  We could not believe the event once we arrived!  There were SO many construction equipment operators driving their machines back and forth giving rides to kids.  Not only were there excavators and bulldozers and cranes but there was also a fire truck and an ambulance and a cement truck!  Tyler has such a draw to ALL of these he was in heaven!  Tyler didn't want to go for a ride yet, we tried but he wasn't having it.  He was just content to watch all of them working and admire them from afar for now.  The one thing he did want to do with no hesitation was run a garbage truck.  Every Wednesday, which is our garbage day, he anxiously waits and then watches as the garbage trucks come up and then back down our street.  He got to push the buttons that make the garbage can go up and down and he loved that!

Happy 5th Penny!

A "Hot" Day?

Our sunny days are so rare around here so when it happens full advantage must be taken... even if you must break a few rules in the process.  The forecast was for mid to upper 70's with a chance to hit 80... I think we saw 78 that day, a record high for the day I believe.  I snatched up sunblock, dogs, food and drinks and we headed for my parents house where we played in the sun all day! I typically would NEVER wash a vehicle in the direct sunlight, according to Mick and Sara's car-washing bible, but we broke a rule and went for it.  The water spots were worth it.  Tyler helped clean grandma's car for a while but really enjoyed playing with my brothers 35 year old Bell Electric truck and throwing rocks in Grandpa's drains.  I ended up putting Tyler down for a nap there and calling Jason to come over after work for a BBQ... the clouds rolled in on us just as we finished our meal... but we got it all in while the sun lasted.  I gave Tyler a quickie bath, he ran around and gave a little nudist show in his froggie towel and the we all went home.  Can't wait for the next sunny day....

Clackamas Fire Station Tour

Jacque took Tyler to visit the Clackamas Fire Station recently and Tyler had an amazing tour.  They brought out the fire hoses and took him all around the station showing everything to him.  He has such a thing for emergency response vehicles of any kind so to see a real fire truck up close was a big deal.  They returned to the station later to take a thank you note in that Tyler made and apparently the guys were happy to see him.  He made quite an impression Jacque said.  :) The fireman complemented on how polite and sweet of a little boy he was.  Last week Tyler and I were driving near the fire station and he said, "Mommy, Tyler and Jacque took thank you note to fire station right there."  I didn't even realize where we were until he pointed it out to me... funny what they remember.

Jason's 35th

Happy 35th Jason!  I had our families over to our house for cake and ice cream on Jason's birthday to celebrate.  Jason asked for chocolate ice cream with cream cheese frosting and peanut butter ice cream for his big day - and I delivered.  I served him up a challenge piece of cake (he has a bit of a sweet tooth) and he nearly finished it with Tyler's help.  Hope your day was great JJ!

Marcus Turns 5

April 10th our first born turned 5.  We did all of Marcus' favorite things... Went for a walk, went for a ride in the truck, went to the park to run, ate unlimited cookies and had an extra scoop of food at dinner.  He was a very happy boy all day.  HAPPY BIRTHDAY MARCUS!!!

Easter 2012

This Easter was beautiful, a nice day for an egg hunt or two.  Tyler was very excited for his Easter basket as he has really grasped the concept of presents.  We had an egg hunt at our house and then went to my parents for Easter dinner where Steve, Jen, Kamryn and Justyn joined us.

"Here's another egg".  We heard that a lot throughout the day.
