Tyler Goes to School

The time has finally come... I am back at work which means that Tyler has started school. It's daycare but we call it school. Before he started I took Tyler in once or twice a week for a long time to get used to his new surroundings and get to know his teachers (miss Connie and miss Jacque). I think the time spent there has paid off because he is doing fantastic and has made a very smooth transition from Mom care to Day care. I can't say the same for me! I never could have prepared myself for how I was going to feel the way I did when I left him that first day! The first week had some tears and a lot of emotions but Jason is better now (ha ha ha) kidding - I'm doing fine with it now. I'm glad to be back at work, I forgot how much I love what I do!

Some of Tyler's classmates

MMMMM.... Butterscotch!

Jason's Uncle and Aunt, Peter and Linda, came to visit and we were soooo excited to introduce them to Tyler! We were also excited because they came bearing the coveted butterscotch sauce recipe. At Christmas they sent us a jar of butterscotch and we have been asking for the recipe ever since! The recipe is written in Jason's grandmother's handwriting, the original, and we plan to keep it in the family! Always a jar in the fridge - right Peter? MMMMMMMMM... thanks for the recipe and we were so happy to see you both!

Rollin'

What a landmark! Tyer rolled from his tummy to his back! Here's look at our boy "rollin".

Snowboarding

We had a late snow storm hit the Cascades and I thought I had better get back up there so we planned a snowboarding day. Jason and I got soaked, the snow was very wet and heavy but we were glad we went! Tyler got to spend the day with his Grandma and Grandpa Hunt while we boarded and ate at the Mt. Hood Brewery.

Check out my MAD skillz!

Chelsea Lately

Chelsea Handler

I love Chelsea Handler and her show on E! When I heard that she not only had a new book out but was going to be in Portland for a book signing I decided I had to go. Mom came with me to help with Tyler so I could get my book signed. It was a really fun experience! Powells was packed, we were there an hour early and there was already about 200 people in front of us!

This is the last portion of the line leading up to Chelsea.

She signed my book... "Sloppy Sara"

Along for th ride... he was a trooper!

Tyler's First Campout

We decided it was time to take Tyler camping... so we packed up the dogs and took off for Lake Merwin. We intended on staying 2 nights, but cut our trip short due to a minor pad laceration of Penny's foot. (she's fine now thanks to my incredible first aid skills) It was also FREEZING cold and raining, some more reasons to come home :) We had a true "Oregon" camping experience... rain, mud, snow and a tiny bit of sunshine. We had a great time regardless and were glad we made the trip!

First things first... get that fire built! It was nice when we arrived so Jason got right to work chopping wood and kindling for our fire.

Tyler and I watched :)

Dad and Tyler after a nap... I swear he has more pajamas than just this one!

We had some visitors... Mike and Eric were doing some work on their site and they stopped by to say hello and of course, like we always do at Merwin, stand around the fire.

After we put Tyler down we realized there was just one dry area left where we could drink beer and talk... (Tyler was asleep inside) only problem was it was pouring rain and 36 degrees. Jason and Troy made an emergency trip up to Troy's place and brought back some space heaters. We huddled around the heaters and had some beers. Troy made a call to the local bar where Tanya Harding (yes the knee whacking, used to skate at Clackamas Town Center Tanya Harding) often frequents to sing karaoke, and it was confirmed by the bartender on speaker phone (for proof) that she does in fact karaoke there but was not in that night.

Marcus and Penny had a blast! They were very tired after a day of tearing through the woods.

Saturday morning we woke up to snow! We had breakfast and then jumped in the car and headed up to Troy's place. The snow was beautiful!

Troy needed to stop at the office for 3 minutes, 5 tops and while we were there some deer wandered up to say hello.

Troy offered an empty hand...

When we got back, we made another fire and started roasting our marshmellows for S'MORES! YUMMY!

Tyler kept nice and warm.

On our way out we were going to stop and take a picture and we found some more deer there. They walked right up to the truck... even sniffed my hand (carefully covered by my sweatshirt)

Until next time... Lake Merwin

Morning Person

Tyler is quite the morning person! (taking after his Mommy) He has been sleeping through the night for about 2 weeks now. A lot of the time we will have been up for a while and start to hear funny noises on the monitor. When we look to see what he is up to he's wide awake just hanging with his sheep and staring at his mobile. When we go in to get him he is so happy... just all smiles! These are some pictures I took of him one morning when I went to get him up.

Penny saying good morning to Tyler

Mom is sooo BORING!

So it's no hidden "MOM" secret that the baby bjorn helps when you are trying to get some stuff done around the house. You know... to do chores, email and eat. Apparently Tyler thinks chores are boring... he fell asleep right in the bjorn today and took a quicky nap. I wanted to tell him what my Mom always told me... "This house isn't going to clean itself!" I had to post this!

Big Boy Outfit

Tyler is growing out of clothes at a record rate! He just had his 2 month appointment and weighed in at 11 lbs and 10 oz. The fun thing about growing out of clothes is growing into new ones! He now is starting to fit into the really cute "big boy" outfits!

The Fist

I could take this picture everytime Tyler has a diaper change. We aren't sure if he has really discovered his hand/fist or what. It's really funny though. He straightens his right arm and makes a fist and then holds it there for as long as he is lying there, so proud of it the entire time! We just punch it in and laugh with him about it. Just today he had both fists up and was putting nearly his entire left one in his mouth! It is so fun watching him do new things.

TEXAS

I left for Texas last week. It was the last week of 4 over a year of training and school. I made the trip alone, leaving Jason and Tyler at home. It was SO hard! The day I flew out I thought my plane left at 12:35, but when I realized it didn't leave until 3:15 and I was packed and ready to leave, I took the opportunity to hold Tyler until the last possible moment. Jason and I skyped every night, seeing each other made it a bit easier. Thanks to Grandma Sue and Grandma Chris for watching Tyler during the week for us while Jason was at work. We couldn't have done it without you two! I know Tyler loved his time with his Grandparents!

This was a hard face to leave at home!

Great Grandma Visits

Jason's Grandmother, Lucille, Gary's Mom, finally got to meet her Great Grandson! We were so happy to have her! She had never been to our house, met our dogs or Tyler!

Jason, Tyler,Lucille and Gary - THE HUNTS

We had a great visit and made sure to capture these four generations!
